Veterans day

Wake up and I hear silence.
Not a crisp fall country silence.
The silence of soldiers lost in thought
Of The families they left behind.
Then reality sharpens my vision and I realize I’m being irrational.
Think not of my past, of what I loved, but my future. Of what I will learn to love.
This fighting is what brings recognition to the sacrifices.
To the things we couldn’t say.
What we wouldn’t say.
Show some respect.
It’s only going to last for a mere 24 hours.
And think… You don’t think about it even once every 24000 hours I’d bet.
Show some respect.
